Luick, Goerger lead District 25 legislative races in early returns
Unofficial results show Senate and House candidates jockeying for November ballot positions
WAHPETON — Larry Luick led Bob Heitkamp in early returns Tuesday night in the District 25 Senate race, while Terry Goerger and Kathy Skroch held the top two spots in the Republican primary for the District 25 House race.
Luick was leading Heitkamp 73.99% to 26% with more than 2,161 votes counted as of 10 p.m., which may not contain all results returned by mail.
In the Republican primary for the District 25 House race, Goerger led the field with 44.79% of the vote, followed by Skroch at 31.87%. Matt Evans received 23.15% of the vote. A total of 3,141 votes had been counted.
Democratic-NPL Rep. Alisa Mitskog was unopposed for her party’s nomination and received 595 votes, or 99.16%, in early returns.

Representative candidates
- Goerger, a Richland County commissioner and retired seed producer from Mantador, entered the race emphasizing his background in agriculture, business and local government. He previously operated Goerger Seed Farm and Goerger Seed Company and has served on several state and local agricultural and energy boards.
